Summer Camps Enrolling Now

Children who attended last summer’s Dino Camp at Edgecombe Community College dug for dinosaurs, visited the ECC library for story time, enjoyed a scavenger hunt, and studied the diet of dinosaurs, among other fun activities. Registration is underway for Camp College 2022 at edgecombe.edu/camps.

Summer fun begins soon at Edgecombe Community College!

Registration is underway for Camp College 2022, ECC’s summer camp program for kids.

Eleven summer camps are planned for elementary and middle students in grades K-9. Most of the camps are four-day camps and meet in the morning or afternoon.

Camp College is sponsored by the College’s Lifelong Learning Department, which is part of the Division of Continuing Education.

Lifelong Learning Coordinator Kathy Webb says all of the camps will be held on the Tarboro campus. “This summer, we are offering more camps for younger children, such as Lost in Space, A Pirate’s Life, and Dinosaurs Rock for grades K-3.”

All camps are meeting in person. Backyard Olympics for grades K-2 is a two-day camp, the rest will meet Monday-Thursday.

Several perennial favorites are returning, such as STEM camps for elementary and middle grades. “STEM camps fill up fast,” Webb says. “Also, Builders in Training for grades K-5 is already half full.

Other camps are Under the Sea for grades K-3, Electronics Camp for grades 5-9, CSI Camp for grades 4-9, and Construction Camp for grades 6-9.

“We limit the size of our camps to ten to twelve participants so the campers receive lots of personal attention from instructors,” Webb says.

“We want kids to be engaged and to have fun, but we also want to provide ample opportunities for them to try out different career fields to see what interests and challenges them,” she adds.

Camps meet June through August, and fees range from $35 to $75. The camps are led by ECC instructors.
