Thirteen Complete Basic Law Enforcement Training at ECC
Thirteen cadets became graduates of Edgecombe Community College’s 3rd Basic Academy for Basic Law Enforcement Training on Tuesday.
The graduation ceremony held February 21 featured comments by Payton Owens, platoon leader who completed the program with top academic honors. Squad leaders Alicia Godinez and Keon Caudle presented the Academy plaque on behalf of the graduates to the college.
The cadets completed an intensive 19-week program. ECC’s BLET is unique in that it includes training in high-risk calls and certification in the police shotgun, taser, expandable batons, and pepper spray. Graduates also receive 19 college credit hours toward an associate degree in criminal justice.
The college’s next BLET Academy begins June 12. To learn more, contact taylorb@edgecombe.edu.
