CCR Instructor Helps Flood Victims

Dennis Joyner (front), College and Career Readiness (CCR) instructor at Edgecombe Community College, recently accompanied three CCR students to the Angel Closet in Roanoke Rapids to shop for items they lost due to Hurricane Matthew. Joyner led the efforts of the Tarboro Enrichment Center to locate CCR students displaced by the flood and offer assistance. Through a collaboration with the CCR staff and Gilbert Portela (center), executive director of the Angel Closet, students Alaric Clark, Abel Oviedo-Salazar, and Angela Sherrod were able to recover some of the personal items lost in the flood and continue their basic skills classes.
