Check Out Spring Events at ECC
Recent warm weather heralds the coming spring. At Edgecombe Community College, spring semester is a season of learning opportunities and entertainment that are unique in the Twin Counties.
Students can get ahead or catch up on college work through eight-week classes that meet March 11-May 7. These fast-paced courses cover the same amount of material as traditional 16-week classes. Choose from 25 courses, 17 are online. Topics include medical terminology, NC history, and critical thinking. Contact admissions@edgecombe.edu.
On March 14-15, the College will hold its annual Global Education Spring Symposium on the Rocky Mount campus.
The theme of the two-day event is “Embracing the Culture of Change.” Presentations will examine the challenges that face ECC’s diverse community of students, faculty, and staff, and their communities.
ECC President Dr. Greg McLeod will present the keynote address on the “Culture of Inclusive Studenthood” at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, in McBryde Auditorium in the Lamm Building.
Other sessions will focus on the culture of careers, the culture of inclusion and diversity, the culture of technology and obsolescence, and the culture of academy.
Thursday events begin at 1 p.m. and meet in McBryde Auditorium of the Lamm Building. A 4:30 p.m. reception will conclude the day.
Friday events begin at 9 a.m. in the Barnes Building auditorium and end with closing remarks at 12 p.m.
All Global Education Spring Symposium events are free and open to the public.
The annual ECC Job Fair is set for Friday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Fleming Building on the Tarboro campus. Job seekers should dress to impress and bring plenty of resumes.
College employees will provide resume review services. The ECC Job Fair is free to students and the community. If any companies would like to participate, please contact Teresa Bottoms at 823-5166, ext. 331.
Making its seventh consecutive appearance in the Edgecombe Performance Series, the New York Theatre Ballet will perform classical and contemporary dance at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21.
Thanks to the support of the Furman Mathewson Memorial Trust, this performance is free to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets are available through the ECC Box Office. Please call Cultural Arts Director Eric Greene at (252) 823-5166, ext. 187.
Edgecombe Performance Series events are held in Keihin Auditorium on the Tarboro campus.
The College’s annual Historic Preservation Trades Fair is set for Saturday, April 27, at the Norfleet House on the Tarboro campus.
A unique event, this daylong fair features preservation demonstrations in roofing, masonry, stained glass, window repair, floor repair, and historic carpentry methods, among other topics. Sessions begin at 9 a.m. and rotate throughout the day until 4 o’clock.
The $50 registration fee includes all programs and lunch.
