ECC Ranks #3 in U.S. in Recent Study
Edgecombe Community College ranks #3 among community colleges nationwide for providing quality instruction at an affordable price, according to SmartAsset, an online site for financial information and advice.
To determine the best community colleges in the country, SmartAsset analyzed data for 845 schools where students can earn an associate degree or technical training in two years. The schools were ranked based on their student-to-faculty ratios, retention rates, and the cost of tuition and fees.
“We chose to conduct this particular study on America’s best community colleges to help inform our readers about some affordable alternatives to four-year institutions,” explains Ray Marek, senior manager of public relations at SmartAsset.
“We are delighted by the recognition of the college, its quality and value,” says ECC President Dr. Greg McLeod.
According to the report, ECC has a student-to-faculty ratio of 10:1, a retention rate of 79%, and an annual cost of $2,640 in tuition and fees.
Data for the study comes from Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System for the 2021-2022 academic year. The full report, including an interactive, searchable chart as well as the study methodology, can be found at smartasset.com/data-studies/best-community-colleges-for-2023.
