ECC to Benefit from EV Charging Station Grant
Edgecombe Community College is proud to be one of 10 community colleges in North Carolina that will benefit from the EV charging station grant that was awarded to the NC Department of Transportation. This federal grant was made possible through the $2.5 billion Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program. The charging stations will help support clean vehicle training courses in automotive and electrical programs at the college.
“Charging stations on our campuses will help meet the car charging needs of our students, employees, and the community at large while also allowing ECC to enhance its automotive systems technology, electrical systems technology, and Steps4Growth Clean Energy Pre-Apprenticeship programs,” says ECC President Dr. Greg McLeod. “Having these charging stations on ECC’s campuses will provide valuable access and opportunity for students to learn how to install, maintain, and operate the stations.”
According to a press release provided by the USDOT, “the project will expand community-based EV charging in economically distressed counties while supporting high-quality workforce development programs at participating community colleges.”
