Edgecombe County Manager to Speak at ECC Graduation

Edgecombe County Manager Eric Evans will give the keynote address during graduation exercises at Edgecombe Community College on Friday, May 12.

Edgecombe County Manager Eric Evans will give the keynote address during Commencement at Edgecombe Community College on Friday, May 12.

Commencement will begin at 4 p.m. in Keihin Auditorium in the Fleming Building on the Tarboro campus.

Evans has served as county manager since 2015. Prior to his current post, he served as the assistant county manager for five years. He has worked for Edgecombe County for more than 21 years.

He began his career in education, graduating from East Carolina University with a degree in history and a minor in education, and taught high school social studies for four years. From there he transitioned into community development work for the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe in Hollister, and then to the City of Rocky Mount, Community Development Division.

Evans serves on a number of boards, including the Carolinas Gateway Partnership Board of Directors and executive board, the Edgecombe County Tourism Development Authority, the Edgecombe County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, and the Rocky Mount Chamber of Commerce.

He is an ordained Baptist minister. He and his wife, Latonya Evans, have two daughters.
