Edgecombe Performance Series Begins October 6
The Edgecombe Performance Series is back! Sponsored by Edgecombe Community College, the performing arts series was suspended in March 2020 due to the pandemic.
The 2022-2023 series includes eight events for the sixteenth season of bringing world class entertainment to Edgecombe and surrounding communities.
Unless otherwise noted, performances are presented in Keihin Auditorium on the Tarboro campus, located at 2009 West Wilson Street.
Season Sixteen performances are:
- New York Theatre Ballet
Thursday, October 6, 7 p.m.
New York Theatre Ballet will perform signature works by master choreographers for the public on October 6, followed by an educational performance for area second and third graders on Friday morning. Sponsored by Providence Bank, Southern Bank, and Hitachi Astemo. Admission is free but tickets are required.
- North Carolina Symphony Holiday Pops
Tuesday, December 6, 7:30 p.m.
North Carolina Symphony Holiday Pops is a holiday season tradition in Edgecombe County. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students.
- A Christmas Carol
December 9-11, December 16-18
Friday 8 p.m., Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.
A miser who is haunted by the ghost of his former business partner and three spirits changes his ways. Performed by the Tar River Players in McIntyre Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
- Zuzu African Acrobats
Saturday, February 11, 4 p.m.
Zuzu African Acrobats share the culture of comedy, music, dance, and skillful acrobatics for exciting entertainment for all ages. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students.
- Rashomon

Friday 8 p.m., Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.
A samurai is found dead, his wife assaulted, and a notorious bandit is captured. But as the mystery of the crime unfolds, witnesses tell very different stories of what happened. Performed by the Tar River Players in McIntyre Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
- The Rat Pack Is Back
Friday, March 10, 7 p.m.
Relive the days of the Rat Pack with Las Vegas’ most famous entertainers as they appeared live in the Sands Hotel Copa Room. Don’t miss the #1 tribute show to Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dean Martin. Tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for students.
- To Kill a Mockingbird
May 5-7, May 12-14
Friday 8 p.m., Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.
Atticus Finch, a widowed lawyer in Depression-era Alabama, defends a Black man against an undeserved rape charge and his children against prejudice. Performed by the Tar River Players in McIntyre Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
- Matilda the Musical
July 7-9, July 14-16
Friday 8 p.m., Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.
Matilda the Musical centers around an extraordinary little girl with a sharp mind and gift of telekinesis who dares to change her own destiny as well as her teacher’s. Performed by the Tar River Players in Keihin Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
Edgecombe Performance Series season tickets are on sale and cost $75 for adults (save $65) and $30 for students (save $55).
