Edgecombe Community College graduated eleven cadets from its 4th Basic Academy for Basic Law Enforcement Training on October 24.

The graduation ceremony featured comments by Rose Rivera, platoon leader. Squad leaders Patrick Sharpe and Jacob Strickland presented the class plaque on behalf of the graduates to the College.

The cadets completed an intensive 19-week program. ECC’s BLET is unique in that it includes training in high-risk calls and certification in the police shotgun, taser, expandable batons, and pepper spray. Graduates also receive 19 college credit hours toward an associate degree in criminal justice.

The College’s next BLET Academy begins February 5. To learn more, contact taylorb@edgecombe.edu.
