Former Trustee Awarded Order of Long Leaf Pine
Gladys Shelton, long-standing community volunteer, recently was rewarded for her many years of service to the Edgecombe and surrounding communities and state. In a ceremony held at Edgecombe Community College, Shelton was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. Among the most prestigious awards conferred by the governor of North Carolina, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine was presented to Shelton by Rep. Shelly Willingham. In addition to her service with various clubs and organizations, Shelton served on the College’s Board of Trustees for twenty years and retired from the board in 2014.
