Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Scholarships
Thirty-six teams played in the Edgecombe Community College Foundation’s 31st Annual Golf Tournament held September 15 at Maccripine Country Club.
The tournament is the largest fundraiser for student scholarships held by the college.
“It was a beautiful day, the players enjoyed themselves, the volunteers were tremendous, and much money was made for scholarships,” says Karen Andrus, executive director of the ECC Foundation.
First-place winner was PNC Bank #2, with team members Ben Anderson, Tee Boyd, Jerome Creech, and Monty Pollard.
Second-place winner was Abrams, with team members Roy Henderson, Justin Harrell, and Kendall Strickland.
Edmondson Insurance Agency placed third, with team members Curtis Edmondson, Lee Edmondson, Charlie Harrell, and Tommy Howell.
Placing fourth was the Kanban team, played by Mark Doughtie, Harold Hobgood, Jerry Little, and Glenn Warren.
Piedmond Natural Gas #2 came in fifth, with team members John Hughes, Robert Lewis, Gene Nicoles, and Philip Ribando.
Corporate sponsors of the golf tournament were Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant and Keihin Carolina System Technology.
Gold sponsors were Edgecombe-Martin County EMC and Tyson Foods.
Silver sponsors were DeLoatch, Hinton & Peters, PLLC; Edgecombe Garage Doors; Hartcom; Piedmont Natural Gas; SunDrop Bottling Company; Twin County Motorsports; and Welcome to Tarboro Magazine.
