Holiday Pops Concert Set for December 8

The North Carolina Symphony will present its annual Holiday Pops Concert at Edgecombe Community College on Thursday, December 8.

The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. in Keihin Auditorium on the Tarboro campus.

The Holiday Pops concert has become a tradition in Tarboro, featuring wonderful music from the holiday season, the beloved Holiday Sing Along, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The program for the December 8 concert includes perennial favorites “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson and “March of the Toys” by Victor Herbert, as well as suites from The Polar Express by Alan Silvestri and It’s a Wonderful Life by Dmitri Tiomkin, among others.

Founded in 1932 and subsequently the first state-supported symphony in the country, the North Carolina Symphony is a vital and honored component of North Carolina’s cultural life. Its 175 performances annually are greeted with enthusiasm throughout the state, in communities large and small, in concert halls, auditoriums, gymnasiums, and outdoor settings.

Leading the orchestra will be Associate Conductor David Glover, who came to the North Carolina Symphony in 2014 from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, where he served as assistant conductor for two years.

His duties with the North Carolina Symphony include conducting education and evening concerts throughout the state, as well as performances on the Pops Series and Young People’s Concerts, along with pre-concert talks.

Tickets for the 2016 Holiday Pops concert are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Discounts for groups of ten or more are available through the ECC Box Office only. Patrons are encouraged to buy tickets early, as the price increases by $5 on the day of show.
