More than $11K Raised in ECC’s Campus Campaign

ECC Campus Campaign participants may direct their campaign pledge to the general scholarship fund, to support surgical mission trips, the Student Government Association, Phi Theta Kappa, or SkillsUSA.

The Edgecombe Community College Foundation’s annual Campus Campaign was held Oct. 21, 2024 through Jan. 14, 2025. ECC employees donated $11,398 to the Foundation, supporting students in some capacity.

Each year, the Foundation hosts events and fundraisers aimed at generating donations and an interest in the Foundation. During the Campus Campaign, employees are encouraged to give. Participants may direct their campaign pledge to the general scholarship fund, to support surgical mission trips, the Student Government Association or Phi Theta Kappa: the International College Honor Society. Funds may also be used to assist students with financial emergencies or to benefit SkillsUSA. A national organization, SkillsUSA was established to prepare students for careers in industrial and technical fields. An annual competition is held for student competitors to showcase their skills. Unrestricted funds will be directed to the area of greatest need.

As an incentive, any employee who contributes at least $25 during the Campaign is entered into a raffle for a chance to win various prizes. Thanks to a variety of local businesses, this year’s prizes included tickets to see Comedian and Actor Bill Bellamy at the Raleigh Improv, courtesy of WRSV-Choice 92FM, “celebrating 50 years in the community.” Prizes also included gift cards to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q, Food Lion, Ribeyes Steakhouse, Harris Teeter and Larema Coffee House, as well as a $200 cash prize. One lucky winner received tickets to enjoy the country musical duo, Brooks & Dunn, at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh during the upcoming Neon Moon Tour 2025. Those free tickets were provided by 98.5 the Big Dawg radio. ECC President, Dr. Greg McLeod, even agreed to wash one winner’s car.

“Your giving makes a huge and positive difference for our students,” stated McLeod in an email to ECC employees. “Students are able to attend college and have a wonderful student experience thanks to your generosity. We also appreciate those individuals and businesses who supported our campaign with prizes.”

A friendly competition was also held between the Rocky Mount and Tarboro campuses to incentivize giving. The campus that donated the most funds will enjoy free food, games and prizes during a future event. Congratulations to the Tarboro campus where 21 employees contributed a total of $6,365. Sixteen employees on the Rocky Mount campus raked in $5,033.
