New York Theatre Ballet Performs at ECC on March 21
New York Theatre Ballet will make its seventh appearance in Tarboro on March 21, bringing a program of mixed repertoire.
NYTB is the final show of four shows in the fourteenth season of the Edgecombe Performance Series. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in Keihin Auditorium in the Fleming Building.
Under the direction of founder and artistic director Diana Byer, the upcoming performance will include Richard Alston’s The Seasons, one of the Best Dance Picks of 2018 by the New York Times; Matthew Nash’s 1983 take on The Elements of Style from Strunk and White’s classic guide to writing; and Merce Cunningham’s Scramble, which is part of the Merce Cunningham Centennial Celebration happening across the globe in 2019 and 2020.
Dirk Lumbard, an instructor at East Carolina University and a veteran of seven Broadway shows, will perform the leading role of the “Narrator” in The Elements of Style.
With its ever-expanding repertory, NYTB’s cutting-edge programming brings fresh insight to classic revivals paired with the modern sensibilities of both established and up-and-coming choreographers. Going strong in its 40th year, NYTB’s diversity in repertory explores the past while boldly taking risks on the future.
Sponsored by the Furman Mathewson Trust of Edgecombe County Memorial Library, the performance is free, but reserved seating tickets are required.
Tickets are available through the ECC Box Office on the Tarboro campus. For more information, please call Cultural Arts Director Eric Greene at (252) 823-5166, ext. 187.
