Nursing Students Hold Health Literacy Fair

Edgecombe Community College Associate Degree Nursing students held a Health Literacy Fair recently on the Tarboro campus. Health literacy is the ability to obtain and understand health information needed to make informed decisions regarding one’s care. Limited health literacy is associated with poor health. The students chose health issues common to Edgecombe and Nash counties to present to the public. Attendees learned about lifestyle modifications, health screenings, and risks associated with health issues commonly seen in the area. Shown are LPN to RN transition students Annette Salazar-Perez and Sharnelle Pittman with their presentation on end stage renal disease.
