Practical Nursing Ranked Third in NC
Edgecombe Community College’s Practical Nursing program was recently ranked #3 in the state after receiving a perfect score by a national nursing advocacy organization.
The top seven schools on the PracticalNursing.org list received a 100 percent score, and Edgecombe Community College was listed as third based on program size.
“We are very proud of our program, our students, and our instructors,” says Barbara Knopp, program chair and director of nursing programs at ECC. “Since its inception in 2011, our program has had a 100 percent pass rate.”
PracticalNursing.org assessed nursing programs on several factors that represent how well a program prepares students for a career in practical nursing. The organization analyzed past and present first-time NCLEX-PN “pass-rates” weighted by year. Learn more about PracticalNursing.org’s ratings methodology.
According to PracticalNursing.org, by 2029, the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that LPN jobs will increase by 9 percent, making this an excellent time to invest in an education toward a growing career field. LPNs in North Carolina earn approximately $21.45 per hour, which equates to an average annual salary of $44,610.
