Students Demonstrate Skills at General Assembly
Edgecombe Community College was front and center during Community College Day held March 29 at the NC General Assembly in Raleigh.
The event included program demonstrations by twelve community colleges, including Edgecombe, which showcased Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Surgical Technology, and patient simulation technology.

A hallmark of health care education at ECC is that students from different disciplines train together to resolve various patient simulation scenarios.

Attending Community College Day in Raleigh are ECC Surgical Technology Program Chair Suzi Shippen-Wagner (left) and Surgical Technology students Tracy Cannon and Graham Justice. Student Abby Brown (not shown) also attended. The group’s participation was in support of House Bill 199 requiring certification for surgical technologists in the State of North Carolina.
