ECC Golf Tournament Supports Scholarships
Thirty-four teams played in the Edgecombe Community College Foundation’s 32nd Annual Golf Tournament held September 21 at Maccripine Country Club.
The tournament is the largest fundraiser for student scholarships held by the ECC Foundation.
“It was a beautiful day, the players enjoyed themselves, and the volunteers were tremendous,” says Karen Andrus, executive director of the ECC Foundation.
“The golf tournament is always a wonderful event,” she adds. “The golfers have a great time, and our students are the beneficiaries. It’s a win-win event for everyone.”
First-place winner was Ossid, with team members Keith Godwin, Rob Hukill, Ernie Newell, and Steve Widdowson.
Second-place winner was Cummins #2, with team members Chris Billups, Chris Lucas, Mark Moore, and Charles Murray.
Edmondson Insurance Agency placed third, with team members Curtis Edmondson, Lee Edmondson, Charlie Harrell, and Tommy Deal.
Placing fourth was the Piedmont Natural Gas #2 team, played by John Hughes, Robert Norton, Matt Parrisher, and Philip Ribando.
Abrams came in fifth, with team members Brandon Drake, Joey Etheridge, Justin Harrell, and Kendall Strickland.
Corporate sponsors of the golf tournament were Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant and Keihin Carolina System Technology.
Wells Fargo was the gold sponsor.
