Edgecombe Students Meet President Biden

Edgecombe students were among those who participated in the recent visit of President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden at Nash Community College.

Edgecombe Community College students were among those who met President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden during the Bidens’ visit to Nash Community College on June 9.

Their visit is part of the President’s Investing in America Tour. At Nash, the President and First Lady focused on connecting education to careers through workforce training programs in high school and community colleges.

The students who were present for their remarks and subsequently met the President and First Lady are participating in the Steps4Growth Clean Energy Pre-Apprenticeship Program, an eight-week summer program for rising high school seniors and 2023 high school graduates that focuses on clean vehicles.

“It was a great experience overall, and it was exciting to hear his speech about clean energy and creating more jobs for America,” says Kyla McLeod, a rising super senior at Edgecombe Early College High School who is dual enrolled at Edgecombe Community College. “Both the President and the First Lady spoke inspiring words that captivated everyone in the audience.”
