NC Community College Leader to Speak at ECC Graduation

Jim Rose, vice chair of the State Board of Community Colleges, will give the keynote address during Commencement at Edgecombe Community College on Friday, May 11.

Commencement begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in Keihin Auditorium on the Tarboro campus. For those unable to attend, live streaming coverage of graduation exercises will be available online.

ECC will graduate 439 students, who will receive 536 curriculum degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Thirty-four of these students will be recognized for completing Adult High School Equivalency and Adult High School diplomas.

Rose is regional president in the Raleigh market of United Community Bank. He has nearly thirty years of experience in banking, primarily in regional management and credit management for community banks.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University after receiving his GED from Pitt Community College.

A Raleigh resident, Rose is a member of the board of directors of Delta Dental Insurance of NC and the NC Rural Center. He also serves on the board of Leadership North Carolina.

In addition to serving as vice chair of the State Board of Community Colleges, he sits on the finance, legislative affairs, and policy committees.

The twenty-one-member State Board of Community Colleges is the governing authority for the NC Community College System, the nation’s third largest system of community colleges.
