Nurse Aide I Refresher Training

Nurse Aide I Refresher Training (NUR3242) consists of review and testing to assess student knowledge and competency for Nurse Aide I. Each student must complete course with passing academic and attendance requirements.

Upon satisfactory completion of the course the student will be eligible for the written and skills competency evaluation, (National Nurse Aide Assessment Program, NNAAP). Upon successfully passing the NNAAP, written and skills portions, the student will be listed as a Nurse Aide I by the N.C. Division of Health Service Regulation.

Program Specific Requirements

  • One of the academic admission requirements.
  • Photo ID (government issued; North Carolina, current).
  • Social Security Card or Government issued work visa (signed; cannot be laminated, must be physically intact and legible).
  • Students eligible for this course must meet one of the following requirements:
  1. Written proof of completion of an approved North Carolina Nurse Aide I Training program within the last five years and never taken the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program, (NNAAP) test, or
  2. Unsuccessful nurse aide competency candidates, National Nurse Aide Assessment Program, (NNAAP), who provide written proof of completion of a state approved North Carolina Nurse Aide I Training program in the last 5 years, or
  3. Written proof of previous or current registry listing on any state recognized or military health care credential via nurse aide listing number or other credential identifier within the last five years.

Academic Admission Requirements

Submission of documentation demonstrating one of the following academic requirements:

  • College degree or diploma
  • English 111
  • High School GPA of 2.6 within last five years
  • ENG 002 P2
  • RED 090, or DRE 098, or ENG 095
  • One of the following placement tests within the last five years with acceptable scores:
    • NC DAP 097—place into (same as Accuplacer)
    • TABE—Reading Score only (9th grade)
    • SAT—300
    • ASSET—28
    • ACT—Reading score 22
    • COMPASS—40
